References in these terms to “we”, “us” and “our” mean Border Automotive LTD. References to “you” and “your” mean the customer.
These terms apply to consumer purchases made through our website. Separate terms may apply to trade-account and business purchases.
2. Products and Product Information
We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, prices and images are accurate.
Product images are provided for illustration. Packaging, labelling and minor product details may change without notice where this does not materially affect the product.
Colours displayed on screens may not accurately represent the physical colour of paint or other products.
Please check that a product is suitable for your intended use before ordering. If you are unsure about compatibility, application or specification, contact us before placing your order.
3. Custom-Mixed Paint
Our custom-mixed paint products are prepared using the vehicle manufacturer and paint-code information supplied by you.
You are responsible for providing:
- The correct vehicle manufacturer.
- The complete manufacturer paint code.
- Any other information requested on the product page.
A registration number, VIN or colour name cannot currently be used by us to identify the correct paint code.
Please enter the paint code exactly as it appears on the vehicle’s manufacturer label. If several codes are displayed or you are uncertain which code is correct, contact us before ordering and provide a clear photograph of the label.
Custom-mixed paint prepared specifically using information supplied by you is made to your specification. Once mixing or production has begun, the order normally cannot be changed or cancelled.
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not normally apply to goods made to a customer’s specification or clearly personalised. This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty, damaged or not as described.
4. Colour Matching and Testing
Paint appearance can be affected by vehicle age, fading, previous repairs, the surface and primer used, application method, paint thickness, lighting and other factors.
You must test custom-mixed paint on a spray-out card or a small, inconspicuous area and allow it to dry fully before applying it to the complete repair.
If you believe that the colour or product supplied is incorrect, stop using it and contact us before continuing. We may ask for photographs of the vehicle label, the paint supplied and the test area so that we can investigate.
Testing helps prevent avoidable loss. Failure to test may be taken into account only where it caused or increased a loss. It does not remove your statutory consumer rights.
5. Ordering and Contract Formation
When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your basket.
An automated order confirmation acknowledges that we have received your order. It does not necessarily mean that we have accepted it.
A contract is formed when we confirm that your order has been dispatched or is ready for collection.
We may decline or cancel an order before dispatch where:
- A product is unavailable.
- A price or product description contains an obvious error.
- We cannot verify the information supplied for a custom product.
- We cannot safely or lawfully deliver the product to the address provided.
- Payment has not been authorised.
- We reasonably suspect fraud or misuse of our website.
If we cancel an order after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid.
6. Prices and Payment
All consumer prices displayed on our website include VAT where applicable.
Delivery charges and any other applicable costs will be shown before you complete checkout.
Payment must be authorised through one of the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not have access to your complete payment-card details.
We may change our prices at any time, but a price change will not affect an order that we have already accepted.
7. Delivery
Orders may be placed online at any time. We process and dispatch orders Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. We do not normally process or dispatch orders at weekends.
We aim to dispatch stocked products ordered before 2pm on the same working day where possible. This is an aim and not a guarantee.
Orders placed after the daily cut-off, during weekends or on bank holidays will normally be processed on the next working day.
Delivery estimates begin once an order has been dispatched. Next-working-day delivery may be available for many stocked products, but delivery times are estimates rather than guarantees.
Custom-mixed paint, made-to-order products, larger orders and hazardous products may require additional processing or delivery time.
Unless we agree otherwise, goods will be delivered within 30 days after the contract is formed.
Free UK mainland delivery may be available on eligible orders over £75. Any delivery charge will be displayed during checkout.
Risk in the goods passes to you when you, or a person identified by you, takes physical possession of them.
8. Collection
Collection from our Shrewsbury premises may be available by prior arrangement.
Please wait until we confirm that your order is ready before travelling to collect it.
You may be asked to provide your order confirmation and suitable identification.
9. Cancelling Standard Products
For standard, non-customised products ordered online, you normally have 14 days after receiving the goods to tell us that you wish to cancel.
After notifying us, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

Products must be handled only as reasonably necessary to inspect them. We may make a lawful deduction from the refund if handling has reduced the product’s value.
Unless a product is faulty, damaged or not as described, you are normally responsible for return-delivery costs.
Because some automotive products are hazardous or restricted for transport, contact us before returning paint, aerosols, solvents or other chemical products. Do not send restricted products through an unsuitable postal or courier service.
10. Products That Cannot Normally Be Cancelled
The change-of-mind cancellation right does not normally apply to:
- Custom-mixed paint made using information supplied by you.
- Products made to your specification.
- Clearly personalised products.
- Sealed products that are unsuitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed, where the applicable legal exception applies.
- Products that have been used, mixed with another substance or inseparably combined with another item.
These exclusions do not affect your rights where a product is faulty, damaged or not as described.
11. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
Products must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their intended purpose and as described.
If your order arrives damaged, faulty, incomplete or incorrect, contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide:
- Your order number.
- A description of the issue.
- Photographs of the product, packaging and damage where applicable.
- For custom paint, the manufacturer label and paint code supplied with the order.
Depending on the circumstances and your statutory rights, we may offer a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer law.
12. Refunds
Where you validly cancel a standard online order, we will refund the price paid and the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option.
Additional amounts paid for express or enhanced delivery are not normally refundable beyond the standard-delivery cost.
We may withhold the refund until we receive the returned products or you provide evidence that they have been returned.
Refunds will normally be made within 14 days after we receive the returned products or satisfactory evidence of return.
Refunds will be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
13. Safe Product Use
Automotive paints, aerosols, coatings, hardeners, thinners and related products may contain hazardous substances.
You must:
- Read the product label, technical data sheet and safety data sheet.
- Use suitable personal protective equipment.
- Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Follow all manufacturer instructions.
- Store and dispose of products safely.
- Comply with applicable workplace, environmental and safety rules.
Some products may be intended for professional use only. Responsibility for checking suitability and meeting any professional-use requirements rests with the purchaser.
We are not responsible for damage caused by misuse, incorrect preparation, unsuitable application, failure to follow instructions or use outside the product’s intended purpose. This does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Website Use and Customer Accounts
You must provide accurate and complete information when placing an order or creating an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for activity conducted through your account.
You must not:
- Use our website unlawfully or fraudulently.
- Attempt to interfere with the website’s operation or security.
- Upload malicious software.
- Copy or misuse website content without permission.
- Place orders using false or misleading information.
We may suspend access where we reasonably believe that an account or the website is being misused.
15. Intellectual Property
The content of this website, including text, graphics, branding, photographs, layout and original materials, belongs to us or is used under licence.
You may view and use the website for personal shopping purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit its content without permission.
Product names, logos and trademarks belonging to manufacturers remain the property of their respective owners.
16. Promotions and Discount Codes
Promotions and discount codes may be subject to additional terms.
Unless stated otherwise:
- Promotions cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Only one discount may be used per order.
- Discounts may exclude selected products, delivery charges or custom-made goods.
- Promotions may be withdrawn or corrected where there has been an obvious error or misuse.
17. Our Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Breach of your statutory consumer rights.
- Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed.
These consumer terms do not cover business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or production. Business and trade purchases may be governed by separate terms.
18. Events Outside Our Control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, transport disruption, courier failure, industrial action, supply interruption, fire, flood, government action or network failure.
We will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect of the disruption and will contact you where it materially affects your order.
Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
19. Privacy
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Payment providers, couriers, Shopify and other service providers may process information where necessary to complete your order and operate our website.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms where necessary to reflect changes to our services, business practices or applicable law.
The terms applying to an order are those in effect when the order is placed.
21. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live.
